New Owner, Same Outstanding Customer Service

Meet Ryan Boyle

I’ve been a member of the Roaring Fork community for my entire life. Growing up here made it possible to get outside and enjoy this beautiful valley and all it has to offer. I started skiing at the ripe age of two! I have 6 seasons of ski rental experience to bring to Blue Sky and continue right where Jerry, the previous owner, left off. I’m absolutely thrilled to meet all of his friendly return customers that he has taken great care of for the past 35+ years. I’m very fortunate to be the new owner of something that was built with passion and love for the sport of skiing. Stop by the shop on December 1st to rent your favorite pair of skis!

Jerry Butler's Story

Blue Sky Alumni

In 1980 I left Michigan (Go Sparty!) and moved to Colorado to find a new and rewarding life. Everyone thought I was crazy and would be home in 30 days. Now some 40 years later, I’m still here and the sole owner of Blue Sky Ski Rental and Repair since 1986! I was very fortunate to be hired by Blue Sky Adventures as their GM back in 1983. At that time, Blue Sky Adventures offered whitewater rafting during the summer and ski rentals during the winter. I was involved with both businesses until 1986, when I purchased the ski rental program and became the sole owner of Blue Sky Ski Rental and Repair.

This is a tricky question because the answer largely depends on the time & season of your visit along with the size of your group. We aim to get people in and out as quickly as possible so you can get out and enjoy the slopes, but we don’t ever want to sacrifice quick turn around time for your comfort & safety. In general each person takes about 10-15 minutes to fit with gear.

Pro Tip: If your schedule permits, come in the day before and get fitted, so when you arrive to pick up your ski package the next day, you’ll be ready for your mountain!

We charge by the day, however we know your schedule may change and we are more than happy to accommodate any changes.

Absolutely! It’s easier for you and us to be fitted the day before, as we highly encourage you to pick up your rentals the night before to avoid the morning rush. You can do this anytime between 2 pm-6 pm. If available, you can take the equipment with you or we can store overnight at the shop at no extra charge.

Our expert technicians take into account all the information you provide us in advance and select the equipment that we feel with be the very best for you.  We also measure your foot & speak with you about your experience level before fitting you with ski gear.

You can return all of the equipment on your return date during normal business hours of 8 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week. We will also accept returns the beginning of the next business day at no charge until 10 am.

The Ski Swim Stay Package is a winter promotion offered by many local businesses to help you save money when you book all three. Check with your hotel whether they offer Glenwood Springs’ Ski Swim Stay Package.

You’ll just have to stop in, say hi and find out!

Construction Update

WE ARE OPEN!

6th Street is undergoing an improvement project starting on February 10th and will most likely affect the parking near Blue Sky Ski Rental for the rest of the season. With that in mind, don’t stress! We will still be open daily from 8am-6pm. View the map for more information.

The areas highlighted in RED will be the areas that you can park starting on February 17th. All of the areas in RED are still very close to the front door, just not right out front, and the team at Blue Sky will be happy to assist you with loading/unloading your skis!

IMPORTANT DATES: FEB 24th-25th

On February 24th and 25th the front door and sidewalk will be closed for concrete demolition and pouring. If you plan on renting from us those days, refer to the same map, where the GREEN arrow traces the route you will need to take to enter the shop(on foot from one of the parking zones). This route will bring you to the back door of the shop which is highlighted in GREEN too, where you can enter the shop to rent skis or drop off/pickup your repairs. After the 24th, we plan to be open normally through the front door.
